What is components tin plating?

The solderability handling of components is actually the tin plating of the cleaned components’ lead. Tin plating is a very important process in manual welding operations. Only the welded surfaces of the components are welded,so that the reliability and speed of welding will improve and reduce the occurrence of welding defects. The surface cleaning methods for different components are also different, so be careful before tin plating.

When plating tin, the surface of the component leads should be close to the melting temperature of the solder. It should not be too low or too high. Too low temperature solder tin plating layer is not good, and too high temperature to damage electronic components. Moreover, an effective flux is used in the tin plating process, and the solder of the rosin core is generally selected when tinning is performed with a solder wire. For small batch production tin plating can not be tinned one by one with solder wire, you can choose tin pan for tinning treatment, you need to pay attention to keep the proper temperature of solder, not too high or too low, otherwise melted surface of the solder quickly oxidizes.

For the tin plating of multi-strand wire, it is necessary to note that the inner layer wire can not be damaged when the outer layer of the wire is stripped during the tin plating process, and then the stranded wires are well twisted together, and the tin plating should be left room. Solder shouldn’t be immersed inside the insulating layer, preferably at a distance of 1 to 3 mm from the end of the insulating cover. This is not only useful for checking whether the wire has a broken strand phenomenon, but also for facilitating the thread to pass through the tube. When plating tin, first the component lead dip into the rosin alcohol solution, then press the hot iron tip with tin on the lead, and turn the lead to evenly coat the lead with a thin layer of tin. If it is a multi-strand metal wires should be screwed together and then tinned.
